Forgotten refugees of the Middle East conflict: Jews from Arab lands and Iran

FILM + Q&A | Vibrant Jewish communities once existed in Arab lands and Iran, their Mizrahi heritage predating Islam by 1,000 years. By 1948, nearly one million Jews lived in Arab countries — today, only 4,500 remain. The Arab world’s removal of 98.8% of its Jews is a textbook example of ethnic cleansing, yet the story isn’t told in textbooks. In this session we will screen The Forgotten Refugees, a film exploring the history, culture and forced exodus of these communities. Local Mizrahi Jews will also share their stories and answer questions.
